Girls' Generation Becomes First Millionare Group in Japan

Girl group SNSD recently set a big record in Japan.

On June 9, Japanese Record Association announced that SNSD’s first Japanese official album Girls’ Generation, which was released on June 1 of last year, has become a million seller album by selling over a million copies only in a year.

SNSD is the first Korean girl group, to set such a huge record in Japan. BoA is the only Korean female soloist, who has released a million selling album in Japan.

SNSD ranked first on the Oricon weekly album chart with their first official album in the first week of the album release. Then they set a new record by selling the most albums in Japan as a foreign artist. The group also ranked first on the Oricon weekly album chart for the first time as a Korean female group. It only took a year for the group to become a million seller.

SNSD will release their new single album Paparazzi on June 27 in Japan. The group recently released a promotional video for their new song “Paparazzi” and announced their return.

In the video, SNSD members appear in spot light as top stars. Tiffany, who is wearing sunglasses, leads the members and walks towards to the arena with bodyguards.

SNSD’s first unit group Taetiseo (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun), who has ranked first on several music programs since last May for a month, will also join the group again and will keep busy in Japan.

Girls’ Generation Appears in the Most Advertisements Over the Past Year

On June 6th, it was reported by Korea’s largest advertisement information site, TV CF, that the celebrity with the most CF appearances over the past year (since June 5th, 2011) is Girls’ Generation with a total of 26 CFs. This includes CFs that all the group members were in as well as ones that individual members were in.

Representative advertisements include LOOK, Eider, Ace Beds, and Lotte Department Store sale ads. Girls’ Generation’s Yoona was in fifth place by herself, as she also appeared 20 CFs, the same amount as Won Bin. Not only has Yoona appeared in CFs with her members, but she also appeared in Innisfree ads alone, which caused her to be ranked in the higher end of the chart.

SM Entertainment Releases Music Video for Girls’ Generation – TTS’s ‘OMG’

SM Entertainment has just released a new music video for “OMG (Oh My God)”, a track from Girls’ Generation – TTS’s “Twinkle” mini-album. While the music video does not feature the girls themselves, it does however play out a compilation of the subunit’s various concept pictures for “Twinkle” through multiple diverse transitions.

Promotions for “Twinkle” concluded last Monday on June 3rd, with the group fulfilling their final performance on SBS’s “Inkigayo”. While the subunit has finally ended its promotions, some of the other Girls’ Generation members are still carrying out their solo activities. Sunny and Hyoyeon are currently fixed guests on KBS’s “Invincible Youth 2″, with the latter competing in “Dancing With The Stars II”. Sooyoung is also busy with filming for her new drama, “The 3rd Hospital”, which will air on South Korea’s television network, “tvN”.

With most of the Girls’ Generation members finally beginning to wrap up their individual activities, the group has begun to focus on their upcoming Japanese single, “PAPARAZZI”, which will be released on June 27th.

Girls' Generation TaeTiSeo impresses with excellent vocals in MR-removed video

On June 5th, an MR-removed video of Girls’ Generation – TTS’ ‘Twinkle’ performance has garnered much attention among netizens and was discussed in various portal sites.

Although the MR was removed and their actual voices were revealed, TaeTiSeo’s live singing was perfect. Even during parts where there were complicated dance steps, the girls managed to hit the high notes without any problem at all with their ever-impressive vocals.

After watching the video, the netizens commented, “No wonder they are the ‘vocal line’ of Girls’ Generation”, “They have always being doing well. What’s with all these now?”, “I think Girls’ Generation has been impressive at live performances”, etc.

Girls' Generation Sooyoung to make a cameo appearance in ‘Gentleman’s Dignity’

On June 4th, Kim SooRo posted on his Twitter, “‘Gentleman’s Dignity’ 5th episode’s prologue. Spoiler. Shh, it’s a secret. Living till the end”. Along with his tweet, he had also uploaded a picture.

Sporting a pink shorts, Sooyoung was seen standing in between the four actors (Jang DongGun, Lee JongHyuk, Kim SooRo and Kim MinJong) of SBS TV’s ‘Gentleman’s Dignity’, flaunting her beautiful long legs.

The netizens commented “Gentleman’s Dignity is very interesting”, “It’s like a male version of Sex and the City”,” Wow, it’s Sooyoung. I’m so jealous”, “SooYoung was standing between them…why?” as well as many other remarks.

Girls’ Generation to attend ’10 Corso Como’ collaboration launching party

Global perfume brand ‘GiRL’ will be having the 10 Corso Como collaboration launching party with Girls’ Generation.

The collaboration launching party which will be taking place on June 7th is held in conjunction with the collaboration project between perfume brand ‘GiRL’ and Asian leading lifestyle concept store ’10 Corso Como Seoul’. The event will be attended by Girls’ Generation and other famous figures.

Girls’ Generation are the models for ‘GiRL’ by ‘Master of Perfume’, Gerard Anthony which comes in 3 special fragrances namely Lily Magnolia, Wisteria and Delphinium. At this event, aromatic candles are expected to be unveiled as well.

Meanwhile, all products of ‘GiRL’ will be available exclusively at 10 Corso Como Cheongdam flagship, AvenueL and online stores starting June 8th.

Park JiSung Chose YoonA As His Ideal Type

Football star, ‘Oxygen Tank’ Park JiSung picked YoonA in a ‘Girl Group Ideal World Cup’.

On SBS Happy Sunday – Running Man aired on June 3rd, Park JiSung became the MC for the race in order to choose players to participate in the ’2012 Asian Dream Cup’.

In this episode, before the actual race took place, the Running Man members threw a welcome party for Park JiSung who was about to make his MC-ing debut. While giving the newly debuted MC Park JiSung a warm welcome, the members continued to tease him. Park JiSung who received the jokes well and countered them smartly has proven that he also has great variety skills.

After that, he was asked to play the ‘Girl Group Ideal World Cup’ of which he picked Girls’ Generation, miss A, Wonder Girls and Kara as the contenders. In the end, Park JiSung picked Girls’ Generation as the winner.

Following his choice of girl group, the members of Running Man said, “Please choose a member in Girls’ Generation”. Feeling a little shy, Park JiSung eventually chose YoonA and sent her a video message saying, “YoonA-ya, as Oppa is having a break now, could you spare a bit of time?”. Following the message, round pinkish marks illustrating Park JiSung’s blushing cheeks were shown, much to the amusement of the viewers.

Meanwhile, this episode of Running Man featured footages of actions from ’2012 Asian Dream Cup’ held in Thailand.

Girls’ Generation – TTS Concludes ‘Twinkle’ Promotions with ‘Inkigayo’

On June 3rd, Girls’ Generation – TTS concluded their “Twinkle” promotions with SBS’s weekly music show, “Inkigayo”.

In courtesy of their goodbye-stage performance, Hyoyeon took to the stage with her “Dancing With The Stars II” partner, Kim Hyungsuk, to perform a dance routine to the instrumental of “OMG”, one of the tracks on the “Twinkle” mini-album. The duo delivered a strong and powerful Tango which earned a positive response from the audience. After that performance, Girls’ Generation – TTS appeared and carried out their last performance of “Twinkle”. Dressed in gold outfits, the trio successfully concluded their “Twinkle” promotions.

In response to Girls’ Generation – TTS’s goodbye-stage performance, fans all around the world trended #goodbyeTTS on Twitter after “Inkigayo” ended. In just a short span of time, #goodbyeTTS was trending in third place worldwide.

Also, shortly after “Inkigayo” ended, Hyoyeon posted a message on Girls’ Generation’s official website. Two selcas were included in the post: one was Hyoyeon with her dancing partner and Girls’ Generation – TTS, while the other was Hyoyeon with EXO-K’s Kai. After five weeks of promotions, “Twinkle” has earned 12 trophies from various music shows, and it is still placed within the high ranks of notable music charts.

Park JiWoo snapped a photo with Hyoyeon and Seohyun

Dance sports exponent Park JiWoo met up with Hyoyeon and Seohyun.

On June 2nd, Park JiWoo tweeted, “Another happy moment at ‘Dancing With The Stars’..kkkk… I was really excited”. Along with the tweet, Park JiWoo attached a photo of himself with Hyoyeon and Seohyun.

The photo was taken at the set of MBC ‘Dancing With The Stars 2′ where both Hyoyeon and Park JiWoo are participants of the show. In the photo revealed, the shy-looking Park JiWoo was smiling as Hyoyeon and Seohyun put their hands on both of his arms.

On June 1st’s broadcast, Hyoyeon and her partner Kim HyungSuk performed Jive. During their performance, Tiffany and Seohyun were at the set to show their support for Hyoyeon.
