Sunny Is Smart and Reliable on ‘Invincible Youth 2′

Sunny has been gaining a reputation on “Invincible Youth 2″ as the smart and reliable member of G8. There were a lot of expectations for Sunny coming into the second season of “Invincible Youth”. She was the only returning member from the first season of the show, and so far in “Invincible Youth 2″, she has been showing exceptional leadership.

On the episode which aired on December 3rd, Sunny showed her expertise when G8 was discussing the items needed for the opening celebration of idol village. Other G8 members suggested expensive items like a flat-screen TV and a robot vacuum, but Sunny put a halt to the talk of those items, mentioning the direction of the program by saying, “We came here to work.” She also suggested they “get used goods” for necessary items such as the refrigerator.

Kim CP(Contents Provider) praised Sunny, saying, “Sunny is someone with intelligence as her basis”, and “She has a great adaptability for the program because she had experience during season one. She is especially saving the program’s concepts by letting the members get along well. There is a great reliance on her.”

They explained that Seohyun enjoys meditating, earning her the nickname of “Holy Seohyun”. They went on to say, “When we look at Seohyun’s MP3, we see… ‘Ripples’ and ‘Rain Forest’. Yuri in Discussions for Lead Role in Upcoming Drama ‘Fashion King’

Following Yoona and Sooyoung, Girls’ Generation’s Yuri will be making her attempt at acting in a drama. Yuri was offered the lead female role in an upcoming SBS drama “Fashion King”, and she is currently working on adjusting conditions to sign on for the drama.

A contract hasn’t been signed yet, but they are modifying terms accordingly with Girls’ Generation’s schedule and the drama’s filiming schedule. The agreement will be complete by the middle of this month and Yuri will participate in the filming.

“Fashion King” will be about a young man starting in the Dongdaemun market and succeeding in the fashion world. Yoo Ah-in, from “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and the film “Wandeuki”, is a possible candidate for the lead male role, while Shin Sekyung is also a possible candidate for a female role.

Yuri received many offers to star in dramas. However, despite all the calls, Yuri only appeared in music videos or sitcoms.

A member behind “Fashion King” stated, “I watched her crying in a music video. I don’t think we would run into any problems casting her on the set of a shoot. I felt she would be able to act in different roles, from a teen role to one in her twenties.”

Taeyeon Gives a Frank Confession

Taeyeon recently revealed during an episode of “Happy Together” that she has no plans to go solo. She showed her love for the team by saying that she was not greedy to release a solo album.

On this episode of “Happy Together” which aired on the 15th, Taeyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung and Seohyun made an appearance on the variety show and shared various stories with viewers. During the show, the MC’s asked Taeyeon, “Don’t you want to be active as a soloist?” to which she replied, “No, I’m doing fine in a group thanks to all the other members.” Taeyeon also went on to say, “The other members help to cover up for the things I lack in. I think i’m more fit for group activities as compared to being a soloist.”

After hearing this, the MC’s asked, “Who do you think is the prettiest in the group?”

The girls once again showed their close bond by replying, “We can’t choose one member. Everyone has their own unique charms and colors.” Their love for each other shows their satisfaction for the group which is like a gift set. Girls’ Generation Greets Rookies with ‘Ninety-Degree Bows’

Recently, a netizen posted on an online community board a video titled “A Pink Greeting Girls’ Generation”, where it showed the two groups greeting one another at the end of a music program. The video captured Sunny and Yoona bowing at a ninety-degree angle in response to A Pink members greeting them with a respectful bow.

Previously on a radio show, Girls’ Generation talked about the problem they face with rookie groups, saying, ”Rookie groups are uncomfortable around us and think that we’re hard to approach, so we greet them loudly first and do ninety-degree bows. It’s only been four years since we debuted, so rather than getting greeted, we think it’s right to greet them first with enthusiasm.”

Netizens expressed their surprise, commenting: “They weren’t just saying it; they really did bow at ninety degrees”,

“Girls’ Generation is well-known for greeting others well”, and “It’s heartwarming”.

Yoona Discusses the Pressure of Playing Two Characters in ‘Love Rain’

Girls’ Generation’s Yoona talked about the pressure of performing double roles in the upcoming drama “Love Rain”.

During a press conference for “Love Rain” held on December 13th, Yoona started by saying, “I had the sudden urge to start acting again because I hadn’t played a role after the daily drama two years ago. At the same time, I had a chance to read the synopsis for ‘Love Rain’ and I really wanted to do this one.”

Yoona will be playing a double role in the drama, acting as “Kim Hana” in the year 2012 and “Kim Yoohee” in the 1970s. She said, “But when I read the script for the first time I had trouble deciding which character to focus on, Kim Hana or Kim Yoohee. I heard that Kim Hana is a lot like my actual personality so I didn’t worry too much. I was worried, however, about playing Kim Yoonhee from the 1970′s. I don’t know much about the 1970′s and I don’t have that much acting experience either.”

However, she continued by explaining that Director Yoon Seokho’s guidance helped her learn a lot and showed her confidence by saying, “We are currently near the end of the filming for the 1970′s, and surprisingly, all the things I worried about are going well.”

“Love Rain” is expected to air in March or April of 2012 at the earliest.

Girls’ Generation Enters Year-End Billboard Japan Hot 100 Chart

With 2011 coming to a close, Billboard has revealed its 2011 Year-end Charts. On the Japan Hot 100 chart, seven spots have been taken up by four different K-pop groups: KARA, Girls’ Generation, T-ara and TVXQ. Japanese idol group, AKB48, topped this chart with “Everyday Katyusha” and “Flying Get” in first and second place respectively. Girls’ Generation charted at 11th place with their song “Mr. Taxi”. “Gee” also found a spot in this chart at number 23.

Girls’ Generation has been receiving lots of positive feedback from overseas fans, especially in Japan. After having several successful, sold-our arena tours, they have been invited to multiple prestigious year-end events such as the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Since their single, “Mr. Taxi”, was so well received in Japan, a Korean version was later produced and released. It is the feature song on Girls’ Generation’s third repackage album, which has already been released in Korea. The repackage of the First Japan Album will go on sale December 20th.

Hyoyeon and Sooyoung Talk About Costume Choices

On the December 8th broadcast of Mnet’s “The Beatles Code”, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon revealed that she was once jealous of the other members of her group, who got to wear outfits that she thought were prettier than hers. Though the members are sometimes allowed to choose their own outfits, often it is a team of stylists who coordinate the outfits that Girls’ Generation wears to performances or other events. During a segment on the show, Hyoyeon explained that in the past she would get upset and think, “Why don’t they let me wear those outfits?” She continued, however, by saying that she now trusts that the stylists will spend enough time to decide on outfits which best suit her figure.

To this Sooyoung added, “I want to wear heels and skirts, but when I’m stubborn and wear what I want, it messes up the harmony made up by all the members.” As the tallest member of Girls’ Generation, Sooyoung often complained during the group’s debut that the tall members were not allowed to wear heels, while the shorter ones were, showing that Hyoyeon was not the only member to have had issues with the stylists.

The second part of Girls’ Generation’s appearance on “The Beatles Code” will air on December 15th.

Girls’ Generation at Singapore Press Conference

[Updated with more pictures from the press conference]

Perhaps it was the fatigue from last night’s concert or their incredibly tight outfits and high heels. Maybe it was their craving for chili crab as Yuri mentioned, but Girls’ Generation’s rather enervated moods were apparent throughout the short 20-minute press conference at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which left journalists, photographers, and more especially us (pubsquash, cedge, doe, SethRyan), wanting more.

Dressed in their signature “Genie” outfits, the girls kicked off the press conference by posing and smiling for the cameras around the room. Following a short introductory speech from organizers, the question and answer session began.

Q: How does it feel to hold your first full-fledged concert here in Singapore?

Tiffany: We’ve been to Singapore a couple of times before but never had a performance of our own. And, after our first performance here and meeting the Singaporean fans, we felt that we’ve had such a warm welcome, and we hope that this visit will be the first of many.

Q: Tickets for the first night sold out in four hours, and after petitions from fans, you decided to extend our concert for a second night, which also sold out in four hours. How does that make you feel?

Seohyun: Even though we’ve been to Singapore before for other concerts and performances, but never on our own, we didn’t know what to expect. We were so surprised by all the love and support from the fans here, and we’re so happy.

Q: Some of our friends here haven’t seen the concert, so are there any particular parts of the concert that you love especially.

Jessica: Well, we released “The Boys” recently, and it’s the first time that we’ve put it into our concert.

Q: How did it feel like performing it last night?

Sooyoung: There’s a particular part of the song where Jessica goes, “G.G.” at the beginning of the song. Everyone was copying her and yelling in sync with her. It really exhilarated us, and we loved how we were able to enjoy performing the song together with the fans.

Q: You girls have taken on a very new style in the new album by trying out rap in “The Boys”. How was that like?

Tiffany: It’s actually not our first time rapping. After all, the girls have always been interested in Hip Hop and R&B type of music. We used to dance around and sing and rap when we were younger, so it didn’t feel very new, but it was certainly very exciting that the fans got to see us do it. Most importantly, I feel that it shows that our group is always up for challenges and taking on new experiences.

Q: You girls have a very tight schedule in Korea and all over the world. How do you cope with that, and how do you do you relieve stress?

Sooyoung: Believe it or not, we actually relieve our stress on stage during performances. We really enjoy performing, and more importantly, we really enjoy interacting with the fans. We really feel the love and support from them, and that keeps us going.

Q: Are there any types of unique Singaporean food dishes that you’d like to try?

Yuri: We heard that chili crab in Singapore is really famous. We’d love to try it but never had the chance to. Today, we tried ice kacang, and its unique flavors really reminded us of a Korean dish called “patbingsu”.

Our time with the girls was unfortunately up. While they may sometimes bemoan the long hours, we could tell from the twinkle in each of their eyes (SethRyan even managed to make eye contact with Yoona and Tiffany) as they left the stage that they were exactly where they wanted to be. They were producing music, taking on new experiences, traveling all over the world and performing for dedicated fans, and ultimately having nothing less than the time of their lives.
