End of the year polls and surveys are recognizing Girls’ Generation’s talent and popularity. For the respected Gallup Korea poll, the singer of the year for 2011 is Girls’ Generation.
Gallup Korea gathered votes from people from the ages of 13 to 59 about the three singers voters felt were the most active. Out of 3401 votes, Girls’ Generation had the most with 26.1%, landing them in first place for the third year in a row. The group was first among each age bracket, truly showing their title as “Nation’s Idol”.
This year Girls’ Generation got number one for six weeks in a row on KBS “Music Bank” with their single, “The Boys”. They also had a successful entrance into Japan ranking fifth for the highest CD/DVD sales in the country. Girls’ Generation shows that their number one ranking for three years in a row has been well earned.
For 2011′s most popular song, Girls’ Generation’s “The Boys” was in third place with 2.7% of the votes.
Not only was Girls’ Generation ranked first in the Gallup poll, but in Sports Hankooki’s poll as well. For the third year in a row, the group has become the best star in Korea’s entertainment industry.
30 out of 100 experts from Sports Hankooki’s entertainment section chose Girls’ Generation as “This Year’s Star”, getting them the grand prize. While leading the K-Pop boom in Europe and the United States, they were judged highly for still receiving lots of love from Koreans. Girls’ Generation has taken the top spot since 2009, and since the first survey in 2005, Girls’ Generation is the first to win three times in a row.
Finally, Girls’ Generation was ranked fourth in the survey “Pop Culture Power Leader Big 30″, which charts the most powerful and influential people in the entertainment industry. Among people like SM Entertainment’s Lee Soo Man(1), the “Nation’s MC” Yoo Jae Suk(3), and YG CEO Yang Hyun-Seok(5), Girls’ Generation is considered to be extremely important in the spread of Korean culture globally. In the same survey last year they were also ranked fourth.
It has proven to be Girls’ Generation’s year yet again in 2011.
