SNSD on Sketchbook!

The girls of SNSD were guests on the December 2nd episode of KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook“. In addition to bringing “The Boys” out, the girls also performed the Korean version of “Mr Taxi” and “Snowy Wish” from their ‘Hoot!’ mini album. During the interview segment of the show, Jessica also clarified a misunderstanding that arose from a fancam taken of her at the airport. Unfortunately Yoona was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts (most probably due to her drama filming). Check the cuts out below!

The Boys

Interview

A video of Jessica ‘pointing’ at fans after stepping out of the airport became a minor issue due to the possible rude implication behind the action. The nice princess ice princess calmly stated that:
There are fans there to take pictures every time we go to the airport, and at the time, there were regular fans that come to see us, and I said hello to them with the thought of, ‘Oh they’re here again’ in mind.
Mr Taxi
3:01 – lol Sooyoung I see what you did tharrrr :P

Details of ‘Mr. Taxi’ Version of Girls’ Generation’s Third Album Revealed

Girls’ Generation will be releasing a second version of their third album, entitled “Mr. Taxi”, on December 8th, 2011. The album will contain thirteen tracks with the addition of the English version of “The Boys”.  The “Mr. Taxi” track will be moved to the first track, and the Korean version of “The Boys” track moved to the second.

During their promotions for “The Boys” earlier this year, Girls’ Generation also performed “Mr. Taxi” wearing outfits reminiscent of police officers. With the unveiling of the album cover, fans were excited to see that the group chose similar outfits for the concept of the second version of their album. In addition, while the concept for “The Boys” consisted of a unique outfit for each member, “Mr. Taxi” features a return to identical outfits.

Twitter users quickly reacted to news of the upcoming album release and to the revealing of the album cover, as “Mr. Taxi” trended worldwide at number four.

Sunny the ‘Invincible President’ and Hyoyeon the ‘Beautiful Writer’ on Invincible Youth 2

Girls’ Generation Sunny’s intellectual comment has been garnering attention.
Following the first season of “Invincible Youth”, Sunny has been active in the second season as “worker Sunny”. She expressed her honest thoughts by telling the others “luxuries are prohibited”.
At the last recording of “Invincible Youth”, G8 members, Lee Soogeun, Boom, and Ji Hyunwoo had a meeting for G8′s home that will be completed next week. Their celebration for joining the village had president Sunny leading, with Ji Hyunwoo as the secretary, where they discussed who G8 members want to invite, and what items they should buy for the empty room.
With high hopes and dreams for their newly built home, G8 members expressed their wishes to have a 3D TV, dual-door refrigerator and kimchi refrigerator, robot vacuum, rice cooker, and other high-tech items. However, president Sunny expressed her opposing opinion saying, “Instead of a kimchi refrigerator, we can use our traditional crocks, and we can make tastier rice using an iron pot intead of an [electronic] rice cooker.”
Regarding the television, she pin pointed the problem by making an intellectual comment saying, “Instead of a TV, we have to listen to the fun stories of our members,” showing just how the “Invincible President” should be like.
The other members and uncles exclaimed, “As expected Soonkyu!”, not sparing their compliments.

A beautiful “Invincible Youth 2″ writer is actually a G8 member?
During the last “Invincible Youth 2″ recording, a beautiful female writer, who lead the day’s mood, garnered much attention.
The day of the recording after completing their day’s work, G8 members all gathered in the yard of the idol village and had their first family meeting. In order for the meeting to continue on smoothly, different points/suggestions were written on a sketchbook and shown to G8 members. The beautiful female writer who wrote the suggestions garnered attention.
Usually at variety show recordings, writers use sketchbooks to write comments or actions stars should do in different situations in order to carry on a smooth show. “Invincible Youth’s beautiful writer” was unstoppable by denouncing overreacting or passive members.
If Boom’s comments dragged on, she would write “Boom, be quiet”, or if Ji Hyunwoo would sit without making any comments, she wrote “Switch out Ji Hyunwoo next week”, causing laughter with her witty comments.

On December 1st at 7:50pm, Girls’ Generation attended the congratulatory “Show Show Show” for the opening of JTBC, which was held at the Joongang Ilbo building. The MC’s introduced the variety show the group will be in charge of, “Girls’ Generation and Dangerous Boys”.
During the broadcast, they were asked, “Which member of Girls’ Generation is the most dangerous?”, to which Taeyeon replied, “It’s my personal opinion, but I think it’s Hyoyeon,” causing laughter.
Taeyeon revealed, “Rather than saying there are dangerous members, there are ones with strong personalities. You never know what Hyoyeon will do next.” Yuri also added, “When we were filming, Hyoyeon had a lot of funny incidents with the boys.”
The MC then commented, “I’m curious as to how the first filming was.” Hyoyeon stated, “At first, I felt heavy, wondering what we’d have to do after watching videos of the boys’ regular lives. But after meeting and talking with them, they weren’t bad kids and we communicated well. They listened to us really well.”

On the show, MC Yoo HeeYeol asked, “Recently, airport fashion photos of you girls departing for overseas and arriving home were taken. It’s hard to imagine that even after a long flight, you still look very well-dressed…did you girls prepare for this?”. In reply to this question, the girls replied, “We go to the lavatories and change to our training wears immediately after we board the planes. Sunny will just change in the corner seat”. The girls added, “However, there are also a lot of times where we don’t look good when we arrive in Korea”, a confession that draws laughter from the audience.

Girls’ Generation Reveals Christmas Visuals for J.Estina

After showing their power in Asia, Europe, and the United States, Girls’ Generation members have revealed Christmas visuals that put emphasis on each of their personalities.

Wearing vividly colored skirts matched with spangled bags, the members showed a lovely image for J.Estina’s advertisement. The bag chosen for this Christmas visual is a backpack from the “Angelica” line, which Hyoyeon had chosen in a previously aired CF.

The Angelica mini shoulder bag chosen has shiny spangles, which show a natural two-tone depending on what direction light touches the spangles. The shoulder bag’s design was influenced by shining tiaras, which give a mysterious feel depending on the angles they are viewed from.

Song Jiwon, of the J.estina brand strategic team, stated, “After Girls’ Generation’s previous visual advertisement, customers have been asking about the products and we even had reserved sales. We are looking forward to what type of effect Girls’ Generation’s Christmas visual advertisement will have.”

The Christmas bag Girls’ Generation chose can be found in J.Estina stores in December.

The artist who is in charge of both Girls’ Generation and Brown Eyed Girls’ make-up appeared, and told the foreign women about natural make-up techniques that all nine Girls’ Generation members use while accomodating their own skin color and type. This episode of “Get It Beauty” will air on November 30th in the afternoon KST.

SNSD’s Hyoyeon says showing aegyo is her biggest challenge as an idol

SNSD‘s Hyoyeon revealed that showing aegyo was the most difficult part about being an idol for her.

On November 26th’s episode of ‘Invincible Youth 2‘, the girls of G8 discussed their stress factors in a small talk show led by maknaes Suzy and Jiyoung.

Hyoyeon confessed, “It’s really hard for me to pretend. I get really embarrassed when I have to pretend to be cute and pretty. I am really easygoing. As part of SNSD, it’s hard to be easygoing.”

She continued, “The other members are good at aegyo. When we monitor our performances, the ones who show aegyo get on camera the most. I try really hard to do it, but I can’t because it tickles my heart. I can act really suave and cool, but acting pretty and cute still tickles my heart.”

It is especially noticeable that their album has taken over popular top singers such as Jay Chou and Zhou Bi Chang, topping the chart with a deep implication. Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jay Chou’s new album ‘驚嘆號’ was ranked second, while Zhou Bi Chang’s album ‘黑擇明’ was ranked third and Westlife’s ‘Greatest Hits’ came in fourth.

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation was once again proven to be the top K-pop girl group in Japan.

According to the ‘2011 Popular CD/DVD Rental Chart’ published by Tsutaya, Girls’ Generation’s ‘Mr Taxi/Run Devil Run’ and ‘Gee’ were ranked 4th and 9th respectively. Tsutaya is the biggest CD and DVD sales and rental market in Japan. The Tsutaya chart is considerably prestigious since rental of CDs and DVDs is more prevalent among fans in Japan compared to digital music.

Girls’ Generation is the only K-Pop in the Top 10, along with bestselling Japanese girlgroup AKB48 and the girls also topped the K-Pop artiste chart, ahead of KARA, FT Island, CNBLUE and Super Junior so this once again, proved their popularity in Japan.

Girls’ Generation’s Yuri and Sooyoung made a special cameo appearance on the recent recording of KBS2TV’s “Gag Concert”. The girls partook on the segment “Sensitivity”, taking on the role of barbarians (also a Korean pejorative of Chinese people in antiquity) and showing great chic yet comical acting.

The “Gag Concert” with Yuri and Sooyoung will be broadcasted on November 27th, 2011.

Singapore SONEs Donate Blood in the Name of Girls’ Generation

Singaporean SONEs gathered together on the 26th of November to donate blood under the name of Girls’ Generation. This event was organized by a few Singaporean SONEs, and took months of careful preparation before the event could take flight. They also used Soshified as the means of communication between the Singaporean SONEs who were interested. The queue for the blood donation started at 12PM, and it ended around 4PM. During these four hours, at least 50 people, spread out across three batches, attended the blood donation drive.  After they were done, they moved to a recreational room where they played variety shows and concert footage.

Following the success of the event, Soshified got in touch with one of the organizers, KSarangHaeT@soshified, who is better known as Kenneth, and he has kindly agreed to share with readers more details on the event.

What gave you the motivation to organize this event?
Interestingly, the motivation was from the Blood Donation event that was supported by Girls’ Generation two months ago. A group of us sat down one night and talked about it, and well, we decided to go ahead with it. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing at first, since we only had two months and most of us had commitments elsewhere. Time was something we didn’t exactly have.

What gave you guys the motivation to carry on?
We were actually motivated by videos we saw online, with some messages stating how Singapore hospitals were lacking in their blood supplies. Since such an event can be done to help our fellow countrymen as well as fulfill our original purpose of donating blood in the name of Girls’ Generation, I guess we managed to kill two birds with one stone.

Was the response to this event good at first?
In the beginning, we publicized this event within our own thread (Oh! Soshified SG thread) as well as our Facebook page. Since many Singaporean SONEs hardly visit the thread, we only had responses from those members who visited the thread regularly. Honestly, it was a little depressing to see the number of participants for the event during the first two weeks of the “launch” of this event’s registration. But soon enough, one of our organizing team members contacted Cedge and he did us a great favor by publicizing our event on Soshified’s Twitter and Facebook pages. The response was overwhelming and we managed to get more than 50 participants when we closed the registration, which was totally unexpected.

What are some of the problems you guys faced in the process of planning for this event?
One of the problems would be time constraint as I’ve mentioned before. Another would be the event itself. Since we have never done an event that is similar to this, we were literally stepping on foreign soil. Everything had to start from ground zero. We had to find personnel from the blood bank to handle our event, we had to reserve a room in HSA (Health Sciences Authority) for our members to rest in after their donation was done, and we had to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day itself.

How did you feel after the whole event had ended, and what are the chances for you guys to organize a similar event again in the near future?
My whole team was elated to say the least. Although there were some points to be taken away from this event, we managed to have fun during the event and many SONEs whom we have never met before came out to join us for this meaningful cause. The Blood Bank manager even gave us this proposal to donate blood again in three months’ time, which was the basic requirement for each period of blood donation. We’re currently thinking about it and seriously, the chances of this happening is pretty high if our commitments don’t clash.

Soshified also interviewed one of the participants of the blood nation drive, Cedge@soshified.

How do you feel about Singaporean SONEs taking their own initiative to organize this blood donation drive in the name of Girls’ Generation?
Pretty amazing. I was worried about how the response would be, but over 50 people donated.

What did you observe from the sidelines of the event?
In the recreational room, people were having fun, making friends and laughing at variety shows. In the queuing area, some were anxious, though some were relaxed too. In the room where they were actually drawing blood, it was interesting.

Do you mind elaborating a bit more on what you thought was interesting?
Personally, it was interesting to see the process of blood donation and SONEs donating blood, which was inspired by Girls’ Generation, hopefully it’ll be the first time of many. The blood bank representative also mentioned that they were grateful for our donation.

Thanks to Cedge and Kenneth for taking time out for this interview. All in all, this was a meaningful event planned by Singaporean SONEs, and we hope that this event might have inspired some of you to donate blood or organize a similar event to gather local SONEs to donate blood to the blood bank.

Girls’ Generation and J.Estina to hold fansign event on December 4th!

In conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebrations, Girls’ Generation will be attending a special event organised by J.Estina, a brand they are currently endorsing.

A fansigning event will be held on December 4th at the J.Estina store in Lotte’s main departmental store, where 400 lucky customers will be chosen randomly from November 25th to 30th and the winners will be announced on December 2nd.

Within that time period, customers can register and create an account online, where they can choose a Girls’ Generation member and those chosen will be given waiting numbers when they get to the fansign venue on the day itself.

In the new promotional Christmas photos for the brand, the girls showed off their cute and lovely images with colourful skirts and J.Estina bags.

A representative from J.Estina stated, “During our previous promotions and commercials with Girls’ Generation, so many people participated and some even had to pre-order their bags. Therefore, we are anticipating the effects of the new Girls’ Generation Christmas advertisement.”

The bags endorsed and chosen by the members of Girls’ Generation will be available in all J.Estina stores in Korea starting December.
